Bodegas Abiertas (Open Wineries Weekend): Trip Planning Guide
Mendoza, Argentina
Going to Bodegas Abiertas (Open Wineries Weekend)?
Mendoza's annual open-cellar event where 80+ wineries across Maipú, Luján de Cuyo, and the Uco Valley open their doors for special tastings, asado barbecues, and live music. Winery-to-winery transport is organised, making it easy to explore multiple bodegas in a single day. Malbec takes centre stage with reserve pours not normally available to visitors.
Your trip blueprint
The shuttle system between bodegas is essential — driving yourself means you can't drink, and taxis between remote bodegas are expensive. Achaval Ferrer and Clos de los Siete in Luján de Cuyo are high-prestige stops.
About Mendoza
Mendoza is Argentina's premier wine region, nestled at the foot of the Andes and widely regarded as the world capital of Malbec. Vineyards sit at 600–1100m altitude, giving the wines intense colour, concentrated flavour, and natural acidity.
