Foire aux Vins d'Alsace: Trip Planning Guide
Colmar, France
Going to Foire aux Vins d'Alsace?
The largest wine fair in Alsace, running for 10 days at the Colmar Exhibition Centre. Over 300 Alsatian winemakers pour their Rieslings, Gewürztraminers, and Crémants alongside live music, food stalls, and cooking demonstrations. It is the single best place to taste the breadth of Alsace wine in one visit.
Your trip blueprint
Arrive on a weekday morning to avoid 250K weekend crowds and access smaller growers' tables—Domaine Zind-Humbrecht and Domaine Weinbach command lines but smaller producers like Domaine Schoffit offer equally stellar Rieslings with zero wait. The grand crus section is your fast-track to tasting the region's terroir hierarchy in one afternoon.
About Alsace
Alsace is France's most distinctive wine region, sandwiched between the Vosges mountains and the Rhine, with a heritage shaped equally by French and German culture. The region is the spiritual home of Riesling, Gewurztraminer, and Pinot Gris in France, producing intensely aromatic whites from a patchwork of Grand Cru vineyards.
